Shore® Model 900 Automatic Operating Stand Shore® Durometers
The Shore® Model 900 is an electro—mechanically automated operating stand. This design provides consistent load, controlled rate of descent and adjustable electronically timed dwell.
The controlled rate of descent is produced by a 25 RPM gear head electric motor with brake, actuating a cam and a cam follower which raises and lowers the carriage assembly. The system is capable of up to 300 to 400 test cycles per hour.
Recent revisions to ASTM D2240 now include specifications for durometer operating stands. The rate of descent and the distance between the durometer contact surface and the specimen are but two of the many critical testing parameters which are specified!
The Shore® operating stands (manufactured after 2003) conform to ASTM D2240 guidelines. Modification of operating stand Models 900 & 902, manufactured prior to 2003, is available at a reasonable cost.
The versatile Model 900 is compatible with all Shore® Round, Shore® Digital (discontinued DuroTronic™ Models 1000 & 2000) , and most Quadrant durometer styles. ASTM type (scale) OO, OOO—S, and M may not be used with this operating stand. It may also be used with durometers of other manufacturers, although a mounting adapter is sometimes necessary.
The durometer and carriage assembly have a mass sufficient for use with Types A, B and O. The incorporation of the large detachable mass is required for testing with Type C, D and DO durometers.
Adjustment of the durometer for specimen thickness is easily accomplished by a height adjusting knob on the top of the stand.

Shore® Model 902 Automatic Operating Stand Shore® Durometers
The Model 902 automatic operating stand was developed to enhance the full potential of the (discontinued) DuroTronic™ Models 1000 & 2000 Digital Durometers.
This design offers fully automated operation, providing consistent load, controlled rate of descent and a downward motion dwell time adjustable from 0 to 99 s using the timer integral to the DuroTronic™ 2000 and the older DuroTronic™ 1000 models that were so equipped.
The Model 902 accepts information from the DuroTronic™ through an RS—232C interface and allows full SPC data collection through another interface to any IBM® compatible computer.
All Shore® Round, Digital, and most Quadrant durometer styles (except Types OO, OOO—S, and M) may also be used on the Model 902 automatic operating stand. However, the use of these durometers requires that the dwell be manually controlled using the push—button switch located on the stand and can not incorporate the electronic SPC functions of the DuroTronic™ durometers.

Shore® Model 902-S1 Operating Stand Shore® Durometers
The Model S1—902 Automatic Operating Stand is now available!
It incorporates all of the features of the 902, but is specifically designed to take full advantage of the advanced electronic capabilities of the S1 durometer, including accepting the dwell time and other information.
The Shore® Model 902-S1 operating stands conform to ASTM D2240 guidelines for rate of descent and other requirements.
