The CCSi ASTM D2137 Method A, Type B Specimen Cutting Die is engineered to produce the specimens required for ASTM D2137 Method A, which evaluates the low-temperature brittleness point of rubber vulcanizates. This specimen geometry is commonly known in the industry as the Modified T-50 die.

Manufactured entirely in-house in Akron, Ohio, each die begins with premium American-made tool steel before undergoing precision grinding, machining, heat treating, wire EDM, sharpening, and final dimensional certification. Wire EDM manufacturing produces perfectly vertical cutting walls, allowing the die to be resharpened multiple times without affecting specimen dimensions for exceptional long-term value.

The Type B die produces 6.35 mm² × 25.4 ± 6.4 mm × 2.54 mm specimens, the geometry specified for vulcanizate brittleness testing. Accurate specimen dimensions help laboratories generate repeatable, standards-compliant results when running routine QC brittleness checks on molded and extruded rubber goods such as seals, gaskets, and O-rings.
