PTC has redesigned their entire line of analog pencil style durometers. The durometers feature a shorter barrel for improved grip and a more accurate precision ground mainspring.


The instrument uses a dial gauge with a full 360º scale and bold, easy to read numbers. The dial scale can easily be read to ½ point accuracy. A standard maximum reading hand holds the peak reading until reset.

The dial has a ‘red zone’ to indicate unreliable readings. Readings in this area should not be reported for either Type A or D. The durometer should be used in a near vertical position, but will hold tolerance up to 90º.
