The Rex Model RDC—1 Durometer Calibrator is a ‘must have’ instrument for those who are serious about the certainty of durometer calibration.
This Durometer Calibrator is designed to provide a most accurate means by which to check the calibration status of durometers. A definite must for assuring and controlling quality standards!
The use of the RDC—1 for this purpose can greatly improve the accuracy and precision of your test determinations. In this application it can be used by virtually any technician to conduct the periodic ‘accuracy status’ of nearly every durometer type or style note 1.
The RDC—1 is complete with beam arm and counter (tare) masses for calibrating durometer types A, B, C, D, DO, E, O and R, as well as adapters for the accurate and precise calibration of durometers of manufacturers other than Rex. The RDC—1 is a high precision instrument and exceeds the requirements mandated by ASTM D2240 note 2.
The beam arm and counter masses are hard chrome plated to resist wear to the detents and knife edge block. The counter masses have hardened detent pins for greater wear resistance. The base contains an ‘eyeball’ level to allow for leveling and plumbing using the adjustable base stanchions. The instrument shaft and durometer mounting assembly are precision engineered to assure perpendicular application of the durometer indentor to the measurement platform.
The Rex® RDC—3 Durometer Calibrator is no longer available.
note 1 The calibration of durometers, as with any precision instrument, requires training and specialized tools. CCSi can provide training for your technicians, or provide durometer calibration and certification at a very reasonable cost.
note 2 The RDC—1 Durometer Calibrator also requires periodic calibration. CCSi provides this service in accordance with manufacturer’s recommendations, ASTM D2240, NAVAIR 17—20MF—18 and ASTM E74.
