ElasTek Type B Test Block Kit (71430-B)
The Type B kit mirrors the Type A kit’s structure — seven blocks at nominal hardness values of 30, 40, 50, 60, 70, 80, and 90 under ASTM D2240 — but calibrated to the B-scale rather than A-scale, which uses a sharper indenter geometry suited to harder rubber compounds that would bottom out or read inconsistently on the A-scale.
Like the rest of CCSi’s durometer reference kits, the blocks are color coded for quick identification on the bench and ship in a latching case to keep them from picking up nicks or contamination between uses. Blocks can be reordered individually if one wears out before the rest of the set does.
ISO-17025 calibration is included, and CCSi recommends annual recalibration, with that service available directly through CCSi. Labs testing a range of compound hardness across both harder and standard rubber will often keep both this kit and the Type A kit on hand, matching the reference set to whichever scale a given durometer is set up for.
