Product Description

CCSi designs and manufactures high quality specimen cutting dies completely inhouse at our facility in Akron, OH. Our complete vertical integration allows CCSi to provide exceptional quality dies at competitive prices.

Our process starts with high, quality American made tool steel. We then grind, machine, harden, wire EDM, sharpen, and dimensionally certify the dies. The wire EDM manufacturing process creates perfectly vertical interior walls. This allows the die to be sharpened repeatedly without altering the dimensional characteristics of the sample and provides excellent long term value.

All CCSi dies come with the serial and model number laser engraved for easy identification. Also included is a rugged, foam lined carrying case for protection while the die is not in use.

Our standard dies have no adapters and are intended for use in a “clicker” style press.

CCSi manufactures these high quality UltraLife Specimen Cutting Dies for the determination of volume resistivity of rubbers used in electrically conductive and antistatic products, as described in ASTM D991 ‘Standard Test Method for Rubber Property — Volume Resistivity Of Electrically Conductive and Antistatic Products’.

It is assumed that the surface conductivity is exponentially less, comparatively, than the conductivity through the subject material.

The test specimens, dimensionally specified in ASTM D991, are specific only to their thickness, which varies dependent upon whether the specimen is molded for the purpose of the test, or obtained from an article.

The molded specimens are to be prepared in accordance with ASTM D3182 ‘Standard Practice for Rubber—Materials, Equipment, and Procedures for Mixing Standard Compounds and Preparing Standard Vulcanized Sheets’. CCSi also manufactures the D3182 ‘standard laboratory mold’ required for this purpose.

The specimen width may vary from 10 – 150 mm (0.4 – 6.0 inch) being uniform within ± 1%, and the length from 70 – 150 mm (2.8 – 6.0 inch), these being dependent upon the end user’s requirements.

Therefore, these dies are manufactured individually to the specifications enumerated by the user.
