The MetalTek™ Model VM50 conforms to ASTM E92 and ISO 1754 and is an economical, simple and accurate means to determine Vickers Scale Hardness.
The VM50 is suitable for measuring the Vickers Hardness of ferrous and nonferrous sheet, foil and fine drawn wire for “through hardness” and surface hardness variations due to the fabrication process. Induction, carburized, nitrided and cyanided case hardness, as well as electroplated, galvanized and plasma sprayed surfaces may also be studied.
The VM50 is ideally suited for the testing of small precision parts such as micro scale gears, springs, bearings, needles, PC board terminals, fasteners, certain biomedical implants and some dental materials, to mention just a few applications.
The MetalTek™ Model VM50 is features a precision loading system and high quality 70x magnification optical projection system with 0.001 mm resolution.
The testing cycle is fully automatic! The specimen is placed on the testing table and the load is applied by means of a precision motorized IC controlled electro—mechanical assembly. After the predetermined time, the load is removed automatically.
The objective is indexed with the test piece and the impression is displayed on the projection screen and measured with a highly precise micrometer system.

MetalTek™ is a recognized leader in hardness testing. Researchers, design engineers, production and quality assurance specialists have appreciated MetalTek’s experience in instrumentation design, standards and hardness testing for precision instruments that provide repeatable, error free testing. The defining difference is service!
MetalTek™ has maintained Rockwell hardness testing standards at the widely recognized FIE Research Institute since 1979. These are standards established and certified by various national and international standards organizations, not by proprietary unregulated manufacturer’s! All MetalTek™ testers fully conform to most national and international standards, thereby assuring the user of the most truly precise instruments available!
