ISO/IEC 17025, A2LA Laboratory Specimen Mold Service, Restoration & Certification
A Complex 3 Plate Specimen Mold CCSi repairs, restores and refinishes laboratory specimen molds of all types.
CCSi has a complete in—house machine shop that provides the most cost effective alternative to purchasing a new mold. Laboratory molds, except in unusual circumstance, can be stripped of their old finishes, ground flat and parallel, machined to their original specifications, and refinished.
A variety of coatings, from chrome to titanium, are available to best suit your application.
When a specimen mold can not be restored, or when one of different specifications is required, a new mold can be provided! Standard molds, or custom designs for special applications and unique requirements are available.
CCSi Mold Restoration Includes:
  1. Initial inspection;
  2. Initial inspection report;
  3. Estimate of total repair cost;
  4. Removal of existing finish (chemically or mechanically stripped);
  5. Welding and annealing of contact surface imperfections;
  6. Precision grinding of top and bottom surfaces to assure parallelism;
  7. Precision machining of internal surfaces to original specifications & tolerances;
  8. Precision honing;
  9. Final polishing;
  10. Testing on specimens (included with calibration report, when possible);
  11. Final NIST traceable dimensional measurement inspection;
  12. Final calibration report;
  13. NIST Certificate of Calibration.

Modifications, such as hinges, handles, thermocouple orifices or alternative contact surface finishes may be added during the restoration process, by request. Due to the unique condition of each mold, estimates of total cost shall only be given after inspection. An inspection fee may be assessed if restoration does not proceed.
All Calibration Standards are traceable to the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST). The calibration services and reports provided will meet your ANSI, ASTM, DoD, EuroNorm (EN), ISO, ISO/IEC, MIL, and other international standards, as well as proprietary inter—company standards and customer/supplier requirements including those of automobile manufacturers.
The instrumentation used is regularly calibrated and maintained to the highest standards in accordance with all applicable standards, procedures and methods. The reports of maintenance and calibration are on file and available for inspection or may be provided for a nominal fee.
