PTC® Classic Style Durometers: Description
PTC® 300 Series 'Classic Style' Durometer PTC® Instruments
The PTC® Classic Style Durometers are manufactured to meet or exceed current ASTM D2240, JIS K 6253 and SRIS 0101 specifications and designed to measure the indentation hardness of rubber, elastomers, and other rubber like substances such as neoprene, silicone, vinyl, nitrile, and butyl. They can also be used for soft plastics, felt, leather, and similar materials.
These durometers can be used either with a test stand or as hand—held testers. All models can be used with PTC® Test Stands or with the Constant Load Weight for hand—held tests. Please refer to the ‘PTC® Durometer Stand’ sections for appropriate applications.
The PTC® Classic Style Durometers come complete with carrying case and test block. The durometers come standard with an ancillary hand (maximum reading hand) for indicating peak readings.
The New PTC® Type CF Durometer is manufactured to meet, or exceed, the requirements of ASTM F1957 “Standard Test Method for Composite Foam Hardness—Durometer Hardness” and is designed to measure the indentation hardness of composite foam materials such as amusement ride safety cushions, automobile armrests, etc. The Type SL, a non—ASTM durometer model, is appropriate for testing very soft non—composite materials such as foam and sponge.
